Originating in 1984 under the direction of Peter Meadows, it wasn’t until the 90s that Hunza G really came into its own thanks to Julia Roberts who wore that iconic crinkle mini dress in the hit movie Pretty Woman.
Once known only as Hunza, the ‘G’ was added much later, when in 2015 Georgiana Huddart relaunched the brand and became creative director after being obsessed with the fabric throughout her 20s.
“The vision for Hunza G has been to make women feel amazing in swimwear, which is often a time when they feel most vulnerable,” explains Huddart. “I could see the potential of this heritage brand and how we could make it diverse and inclusive – but also aspirational – making a product that would appeal to a really broad mix of women and serve all different body types.”
Huddart continues that “the vision has developed as the brand has grown, but its core intention and message has always remained the same: to make women feel great.”
With modern nostalgia at its core, Hunza G has grown to become a staple brand in the collections of style icons and celebrities all around the world. Synonymous with the sunshine, its 80s roots bring a cool and contemporary twist to beachwear, with the brand not afraid to play around with vibrant colours and silhouettes.
