Robert Clergerie started his career under iconic footwear designer Charles Jourdan. In a move that changed his life, he then purchased the famed Joseph Fenestrier shoe factory, established in 1895 and an integral part of French shoemaking. In 1981 Robert Clergerie launched his own label and was the first designer to produce a women’s shoe on a men’s last – creating the traditional flat oxford lace-up for women. As a revered footwear designer, his innovative spirit continues to inspire with collections that are coveted around the globe.
